In these interactive sessions, Jayshree shares her author journey, including the inspiration for the story, from the snowstorm in Texas to the shores of her home country, New Zealand. This is followed by questions or observations from the students and may include exploration of one or more of the topics. Sessions may also include an interactive activity or a demonstration of book creation from a simple idea. Each session is typically 30-45 minutes long.

Each visit includes downloadable classroom resources for teachers and librarians to explore further with the children before and after the school visit. All school visits offer opportunities for families to purchase the book so that the exploration and learning can continue at home.

A beautiful book

This book introduces in a poetic way to children the cycle of water. Its beautiful illustrations and rich language offer opportunities not only to enjoy a nice reading with your child and your kindergarten students but also to spark conversations about nature and science. As an early childhood teacher, I can see how younger children will enjoy the illustrations and the music of the language while it can be used as a support for more discoveries with older children.

What a wonderful story for teachers to introduce or reinforce the water cycle or taking care of our planet! The beautiful pictures and fun placement of words add such value. Kids are captivated by stories and teachers are always looking for quality resources such as this book.

Impactful Message

This is a such a great children's book! Especially for the elementary teacher who wants to teach the water cycle, the impact of each part of an ecosystem on the other parts of the ecosystem BUT also the deeper double meaning of how important each of us are and the impact we can have on each other.

Poetic science or scientific poetry? Both!

I love this sweet, colorful story that explains the water cycle in such beautiful, poetic language! As a teacher, I can think of a number of lessons for which this book could be used to engage and entertain my young students while they learn new concepts. A great addition to a classroom or family library! I highly recommend it to primary teachers, parents, & families.

It tells the story of the water cycle in a personified way

Reviewed in GoodReads on 1 September 2021.

This is a truly beautiful book.

It tells the story of the water cycle in a personified way that will appeal to young children and make it very relatable to them. It gives the journey of a drop of water through the cycle and introduces the role of water in the formation of the earth. It is very factual but told in a delightful way through unrhymed poetry, using brilliant language and poetic techniques.

The language is gripping, in a calm and restful way.

But that is not all - the illustrations are brilliant.

They are an important part of the book, vividly and imaginatively adding further knowledge and discussion points to the story. They clearly introduce the ecosystem of the river, and also show the mountains, forests, rivers, sea and beaches that children of New Zealand and many parts of the world will be familiar with.

Combined, the pictures and the words vividly provide a scene that demands our attention, our discussion, our awe and our wonder.

It is a book that I would highly recommend to teachers and parents of children of all ages. It can be read as a story but also looked at with older children for it its language and illustrative techniques. It will delight the adult and child alike, providing many valuable lessons.

Children will have lots of opportunities to discuss how water transforms

Reviewed on Goodreads 30 August 2021

A beautifully written and illustrated book of a simple drop of water that goes through all the forms water takes within nature. As an educator, I believe children will have a lot of opportunities to discuss how water transforms within Mother Nature; it provides ample room for interesting discussions and new discoveries. As a parent, this book would definitely be a favorite before bedtime; its calming tone and beautiful illustrations is just what a child needs before going to bed.
